FAQs
Who is membership for? Is it only for artists?
Wave membership is for everyone! The goal is to create community and specifically the focus is on creativity, but whether you are an artist and want to apply for a show and meet other artist members, are someone who is wanting to connect with your creative side more, or if you just want to support what we are doing here, then become a member!
Are members guaranteed space to show their work and host events?
Each art show, fair, and our event calendar has limited space so there is no guarantee that you will be able to show your work or host an event. You will need to apply for individual shows and art fairs. If your’e interested in hosting an event, please reach out through email or come in and say to me when Wave is open and we can talk about your idea!
How do I get my art in a group show?
After you sign up for a membership, you will be eligible for group shows. We might reach out to you directly based on your original sign up form, or you can apply for specific, themed shows as opportunities arise!
Can I turn my membership on and off?
Of course! You can cancel at any time and restart your membership when you decide you want to join again.
How do I host events and workshops?
Read about Event Host responsibilities here and then send an email to wavecollectivespace@gmail.com! If it sounds feasible for the space, then I usually ask that we meet in person to get a better idea of your event and what it means to host an event at Wave.
What are the additional fees Wave takes for events, art sales, and art fairs?
If you want to host a free public event, we won’t charge you anything! Commissions for retail and gallery art sold vary based on membership level. (See above)
What if I don’t have a portfolio or website?
That is totally fine! Wave started as a space for emerging artists to have their work seen publicly, so if you don’t have a portfolio or website don’t let that stop you from applying! As long as you have photos of your work, then you are able to apply.
What if I can’t afford $10 per month?
We pride ourselves on being an inclusive and accessible space. In order to make sure everyone who wants to participate can, Wave will be offering work-trade options for those that are experiencing financial hardship.
